About this project
Commissioned and conceived by photographer and visual artist Simon Warner, Follow A Shadow was the centrepiece of an exhibition at the Impressions Gallery in York in 2002. It re-imagined a world in which the invention of the chemical process of photography preceded the invention of the lens, and explored various graphic and photographic techniques for capturing the world on paper, using shadows, silhouettes, and alchemy.
